Wistaston Conservation Group

Preserving Wistastons natural features for future generations.

Our History.

How We Started.

Wistaston Conservation Group. was formed in September 1997, under the direction of the Parish Council, and our constitution was ratified by both parties in May 1998.

Due to differences of opinion between ourselves and the Parish Council, the Group became independent from the Parish Council, but our working relationship with them is now back on a firm footing, and we work in close company with them.

Completed Historical Projects

We have

  • installed Kissing Gates
  • made hard surface path across recreation ground, where there was a muddy “Trod”, from Joey the Swan to the filter beds.
  • installed steps on the muddy slope from Field Lane housing estate to link up with the footpaths.
  • installed a pedestrian footbridge on Wistaston Green Road, to bye-pass an unsafe road crossing between two major footpaths.
  • installed benches and information boards along the local footpaths.

Photographs of some of the above.
